Our communities aren't keeping up with technology

While physical technology roars ahead, politics stays stagnant. It doesn't have to be this way. We're the world's leading resource for Startup Cities -- the use of small, competing jurisdictions to pilot major reforms and drive social progress.

Platforms for community innovation

New technologies need room to grow from the ground up. Startup Cities are incubators for new ideas in technology, social services, transparency, environmental stewardship, education, and community design.

Low-risk, voluntary reform zones

We're firmly committed to startup thinking. Startup Cities begin small and grow solely based on their ability to attract citizens and provide good governance. Real community is voluntary -- no one is ever forced to join a Startup City project.

Entrepreneurship for the Grassroots

Today's technologies are open, decentralized, and peer-to-peer. Startup Cities are too. By creating open-access communities, they give the poor the same entrepreneurial tools that only a lucky few enjoy today.

We are a non-profit research center and incubator for Startup Cities. Find out more about SCI and Startup Cities here.
